Yubely Zolke - Elementary School Principal in North Carolina

About Yubely Zolke

A bilingual teacher with international experience, Yubely Zolke has served as principal of Waxhaw Elementary School in North Carolina since 2019. In this leadership position, she oversees all aspects of staff recruiting, fiscal management, and professional development for a school with 550 students and 50 faculty members. Yubely Zolke holds a master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Greensboro College and an undergraduate degree in modern languages from South Colombian University in Neiva, Colombia.

Previously, Ms. Zolke spent several years as an assistant principal at Benton Heights Elementary in Monroe, North Carolina. She guided certified teachers in developing tools to create engaging lessons and provided differentiated instruction, depending on each student’s needs. Additionally, Yubely Zolke led the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) committee, which worked to create and implement an action plan for meeting students’ emotional and behavioral needs.

A native Spanish speaker, Yubely Zolke created the Spanish I curriculum for Union County Virtual School in 2013. She has also worked as an English teacher for first and second graders at the Anglo American School in Bogota, Colombia.
